Dita Von Teese: the Ultimate Vintage Modern Fashion Icon

September 14, 2009

I know what you must be thinking: Dita Von Teese? The stripper? Honestly, I have a girl crush on the woman. Aside, from of course, single-handedly resurrecting the burlesque movement, the woman is impeccably dressed. All. The. Time. She effortlessly switches between the decades and so is worth look at for inspiration for a vintage modern wedding.

I think it is interesting to note that Dita for the most part does not wear much jewelry (the White Tie Tiara Ball not withstanding). A thin string of diamonds here, a stack of bracelets there. Goes to show that you don’t need much jewelry in order to be glamorous. Her makeup and hair is also inspirational, I fully intend on bringing a couple of shots of her hair to my stylist and see what we can do with stick straight stubborn Asian hair (hair spray here I come!).

And who could ever forget her Vivienne Westwood wedding dress?

I might have to rethink the poofy.

DVT is such a style icon! I love image number 2. If i could pull off pillar box red lipstick i would so go for that look on my wedding day. i thought she and MM were the perfect match stylistically. Although I guess in the end they were not so well suited romantically…
