The NewbyWeds Part Deux

March 10, 2010

The ceremony was held at the gorgeous Marty Leonard Chapel in Fort Worth. Look at that light! Look at that architecture!

What I love about this wedding is that Liand and Chris manage to infuse it with so much joy and fun and personality. The groom didn’t have to wear funky socks or Converses (though he did wear TOMS!). By all conventions it’s a pretty traditional white wedding with a few surprises!

When the pastor asked “who gives this woman” her father points at her mother and she yells, “WE DO!”

The exchanging of the rings, in Liand’s own words:

“The ring. The best man opened the ring box and it was empty! So they all looked at each other, shrugging and shaking their heads with no ring! Then Abe, our great friend and usher in our wedding came running down the aisle with the ring. It was great. I assumed it was a prank… but the family and friends watching thought it was hilarious. I thought it was great!”

Abe to the rescue!

I asked Liand what the best moment was:

“As part of our ceremony, we added a portion where we vowed to have our household dedicated to the Lord. That was cool. And when they pronounced us Mr. and Mrs. Chris and Liand Newby! That was awesome. Getting ready was so fun! The reception was so fun! The cake was amazing. As cheesy as it may sound, everything was amazing!”

Because Liand is very musically cultured (my current favorite song is Run This Town by Jay-Z, me not so musically cultured), she was kind enough to let us know her music selection for the ceremony.

Entrance music:  Assorted from “Explosions in the Sky”

Unity candle & Lord’s Supper: “Love Never Fails” by Brandon Heath, “You Are The Best Thing” by Ray Lamontage

Reception Entrance: “Sweet Disposition” by the Temper Trap

And they wished they had a chance to use Sarah Groves “Different Kind of Happy”

(I have never heard of any of these folks).
